Virtual Tours of Green Buildings

January 25th, 2008 by George Chan

I documented several groundbreaking LEED buildings to educate a wide audience about the benefits of the USGBC LEED-rating system. We built a Virtual Tour backend system with php, mySQL and QuickTime. Using special photography equipment and an audio rig, I documented the building systems and interviewed designers, architects, engineers and building occupants to highlight Green Building design elements, materials and equipment.

Some of the buildings I documented included:

  1. TreePeople Center (Los Angeles, CA)
  2. Cleveland Environmental Center (Cleveland, OH)
  3. Honda Northwest Regional Facility (Gresham, OR)

Employer: Virtually Green.

This online educational outreach piece addresses international shark overfishing. Working with a non-profit preservation group, WildAid, we developed an engaging interactive video to highlight the issues and plead viewers to donate to the cause.
